What is Crooked Music?
Well, besides being the name of my web site, Crooked Music is a term I've adopted for the music I write and play. The phrase was coined by my sister Dotty. She was at a SLOWBURN gig, and said something to the effect of "You guys sound really good, but you know, different." "What do you mean?". "I don't know, you sound crooked". "Uh-huh".
It's actually the best moniker I ever could have hoped for. I learned long ago to accept the fact that I hear music a little differently from most people. Now, I know to say that I like "Crooked Music" when people ask what I listen to, or what kind of music I play.
The forehead thing, that's from my daughter, Diana. We used to play this little game where I would wrinkle up my forehead and she would "erase" the lines. One time when she wanted to play it she asked "How come you have those music lines on your forehead?". The light bulb went off. Crooked lines for crooked music!
Maybe some examples would help clarify.
I'll try and clear this up more at a later date.
